Fuses and Fuse holders & bases for photovoltaic applications

Photovoltaic, or PV for short, is a technology that converts light directly into electricity. Photovoltaic is also the field of study relating to this technology and there are many research institutes devoted to work on photovoltaic. Due to the growing need for solar energy, the manufacture of solar cells and solar photovoltaic array has expanded dramatically in recent years.

Photovoltaic production has been doubling every two years, increasing by an average of 58 percent each year since 2002, making it the world’s fastest-growing energy technology. At the end of 2009, the total global installed capacity was more than 22 GW worldwide. Financial incentives, such as preferential feed-in tariffs for solar-generated electricity and net metering, have supported solar PV installations in many countries including Germany, Japan, and the United States.

DF ELECTRIC launch a new photovoltaic modular fuse holder and fuse link for photovoltaic applications.

The first feature that this news products offers, is the rated voltages, in one hand the fuse holder with 1000V DC and in the other hand the fuse link with 1000V DC and 600V DC. They have been developed to offer a compact, safety and economic protection solution in photovoltaic installations where due to the increase of the power and technologic evolution, no-load voltages above 800V DC can be achieved.

The fuse links can be also used meet the requirements for instruments (multimeters) and traction equipment auxiliary circuits. They provide protection against overloads as well as short-circuits (gPV class according to the requirements of IEC60269-6 Standard).
